Scotland is renowned as a romantic getaway and we think Grantown is a great destination for anyone wanting to spend a quiet time with their loved ones in the Cairngorms. With Valentines’ Day just a few weeks away, we’ve got some ideas for those seeking a special treat.

Romantic gifts

The High Street is full of gifts for the special person in your life – from jewellery at Imrays, accessories at My Secret Dressing Room or champagne from Two Thirsty Men, just mention a few. The Candy Coo is also geared up for February 14, with a great range of boxed and individual chocolates.

Our independent shopkeepers are always delighted to help you find the perfect present. And there are also plenty of chances to woo your sweetheart with food.

The Speyside Hotel’s Great Grantown Menu series continues on February 14, with private chef Jon Wood taking over the kitchen.

Jon, who also runs Grantown Diner, will be serving up pork belly and langoustine for his special menu. And for dessert, there’s buttermilk panna cotta.

Book your table by contacting The Speyside Hotel on 01479 873909

On the High Street, Luna Verde is planning their own romantic meal. Their three course menu offers Palermo rib eye or beetroot and walnut risotto for the main course, with classic Italian desserts tiramisu or strawberry panna cotta to finish.

At just £40 per person, you should contact 07484 280745 to claim your spot.

Romance and raptors

For those seeking a special getaway, the Grant Arms Hotel has a late winter break available.

The hotel will arrange additional walks and trips with local wildlife guides, including an early morning trip to look for Black Grouse on their lek. Trips are free to join but you need your own transport.

The hotel’s resident expert Nick Baker will give a talk on tracking wildlife on February 12 in the Osprey Suite from 8.30pm. And there will be a brilliant Valentines dinner on Friday February 14.

This offer is £499 per person for four nights – contact the hotel on 01479 872526 to make your booking.

Movie night

Our own wee cinema has a screening on Sunday February 15. Grantown Community Cinema aims to make you laugh your socks off with a showing of Seize Them! from 7pm.

Book now via the website to make sure you get a seat!

Romantic walks

Finally, how could we not recommend a walk in our beautiful woodlands? Grantown is famously surrounded by beautiful forests – and a stunning river. We defy you not to find romance in our amazing landscape.

Anagach Woods has a brilliant path network, while Beachen and Kylintra as close rivals. You can find more at our Days Out page, where all our itineraries are listed for inspiration.
