Welcome to Grantown-on-Spey
Welcome to the town of Grantown-on-Spey in the Scottish Highlands and perfectly placed in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. A great place to work, live and holiday in with great outdoor spaces, a High Street full of independent shops, a large Co-Op supermarket, hotels, guest houses, B&Bs, self catering properties and even an award winning caravan park.
Leisure and outdoor activities are right here too with golfing, fishing, walking and wildlife right on out doorstep. Winter sports lovers are well catered for as well with Aviemore just 14 miles to the south and the mighty Cairngorm mountains beyond.
Stunning Scottish Highland Location
Historically a planned town with beautiful architecture and protected buildings, contemporary Grantown-on-Spey boasts a community owned woodland leading down to the famous River Spey which draws people from all over the world for the fishing opportunities. Surrounded by Highland estates with various outdoor country sports on offer we are also close to a steam railway which will be coming to Grantown very soon thanks to the tireless efforts of the Rails to Grantown group who have been campaigning and fund raising for years to bring the train back to town.
Grantown-on-Spey is also home to the Craig MacLean Leisure Centre which is open to the public. There are endless walks in and around the town and a purpose built cycle trail in the Anagach Woods. There are disabled access paths through the woods too so everyone can enjoy our beautiful area and the wildlife and birdlife that can be seen throughout the year.
A Thriving Business and Local Community
We are lucky to have thriving businesses in the town satisfying your foodie needs too, from a glorious delicatessen to cafes, bars and restaurants so you are never far from some good Highland food to keep you going. These businesses are used by locals and visitors alike and talking of locals did we mention our playgroup, Primary school and Grammar school as well so Grantown-on-Spey really is a lovely place to bring up a family.
We have a thriving church community in and around Grantown plus a variety of adult learning classes, dance groups, art and craft groups plus the Cairngorm Farmers Market once a month throughout the summer. Our town hosts various events throughout the year from the Harley Davidson rally through to the Highland Games, Grantown Show, Motor Mania and the crown of them all our Hogmanay Street Party.
