A Big Weekend in Grantown
Grantown Does Christmas is back, with lots of reasons to eat, drink and be merry this festive season.
Saturday December 3rd and Sunday December 4th – 11am to 3pm
The High Street will be open for your Christmas shopping and there will be a food and drink festival in the Town Square with over 45 stallholders and lots of tasty treats to try. The Grantown Museum will have its annual art & craft fair and the very popular Christmas Tree Festival will be on again at the Community Centre. There will be lots going on in the shops, with many offering something special over the weekend.
There will be a great atmosphere throughout the town.
There will also be some new and exciting activities for this year.
Hop onboard for free tours at The Cairn Distillery
The Cairn will be offering free tours every half an hour between 11am-2pm all weekend during Grantown Does Christmas.
Please note: there are NO advance tickets available. Bookings will be taken each day at the firm’s stall in the Town Square ONLY, when you will be given your tour time.
Visitors will be transported by shuttle bus to the distillery and shown around the modern new building. The tour takes around an hour and then you’ll get the chance for some tastings before taking the shuttle bus back to the High Street. Please do not drive to the Distillery as there will be no space for parking.
The tours are for over 18s only.
Enjoy music and drams
Grantown’s musical couple Hamish Napier and Su-a Lee will perform a concert at the Spey Bank Studio, complete with whisky tasting on the Saturday at 3.30pm. Tickets for this event have now sold out.
Family Fun
There will be lots of activities for the whole family to enjoy. If you love Lego, we will be joined by Dan Harris, local Lego master builder, for talks at 1pm on both the Saturday and Sunday in the Welcome tent. And you can follow the Lego trail around the town and enter a draw to win some Lego of your own. Pick up a trail map from the Welcome tent.
In the Wee Puffin, there will be lots of activities for children including face painting and quiet spaces for anyone who wants a bit of a break from everything that’s going on.
And Smarty Art is another great family activity – here you can paint a piece of ceramic, maybe as a unique and personalised Christmas gift.
Santa will make an appearance on both days and he’ll be joined by his reindeer on the Sunday when Speysound Radio will also be playing lots of Christmas music to keep things festive.
We look forward to seeing you during the weekend
